The Haven provides a wide variety of support for individuals who have experienced domestic/intimate partner and sexual violence including individual case management. Our trained team of dedicated staff members are able to provide support to cope with complicated or stressful situations. We work one-on-one with you to assess your goals, resources, and needs to provide opportunities that give you a better quality of life. Individual Case Management Services are available to individuals who are residing in the shelter, participating in The Haven's Rapid Re-Housing Program, and receiving support services that are community based. 

 

The Haven also participates in each county's Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTS).  Teams are generally made up of the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office, Law Enforcement, Victim-Witness Offices, Hospitals (forensic nurses) and Sexual Assault Crisis Centers (The Haven). These are formed to ensure a consistent and effective response to sexual assaults.

 

Additional support we provide can include (but not limited to):

• Individualized case management services to shelter program participants;

• In-depth 24-hour assessments for all shelter program participants;

• Assistance locating safe, stable housing;

• Access to food, clothing and household items;

• Applying for benefits;

• Conducting a job search;

• Accessing health care and mental health care;

• Ongoing education and support provided to community members who have experienced intimate partner/sexual violence;

• Safety planning;

• Immigration Assistance;

• Accessing other identified needs

• Intimate partner/trauma survivor support group at Northern Neck Regional Jail;

• Utilize the SOAR model for expedited Social Security Disability claims for applicable shelter program participants;

• Targeted outreach and education to home health care agencies, nursing students, medical providers, and Social Services on the signs of Abuse in Later Life (defined as intimate partner/sexual abuse of individuals 50+);

• Participation in the Domestic Violence Action Team facilitated by VDSS in efforts to establish best practice models;

• Individualized services for survivors of intimate partner violence identifying as having a physical, mental, or intellectual disability.
