What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity that takes place each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It’s a day when individuals, communities, and organizations come together to support causes close to their hearts.

 

This year, Giving Tuesday will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd.

 

Purpose:
The Giving Tuesday campaign will support The Haven’s mission to eliminate intimate partner violence by engaging our community in a day of generosity. Funds raised will support critical services, from emergency shelter to advocacy services. Our goal is to increase awareness and encourage donations from our community to expand these essential services.

Toolkit Goals:

• Equip supporters with easy-to-use marketing materials.

• Generate excitement and buy-in during the days leading up to and on Giving Tuesday.

• ​Ensure clear, consistent messaging about The Haven's impact.

Elevator Pitch (For Any Audience)
"Did you know that intimate partner violence affects 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men at some point in their lives? This Giving Tuesday, The Haven is rallying support to create safe spaces and a hopeful future for survivors. Every dollar makes a difference. Will you join us in supporting survivors and building a stronger community?"

 

How to Get Involved

• Host a Facebook Fundraiser

• Organize a Peer Fundraising Challenge

  • Recruit friends and family to raise funds by setting up a personal Giving Tuesday challenge.

• Social Media Sharing

  • Post stories, images, and messages about Giving Tuesday. Below is a toolkit to help with spreading the word.

• Support Through Workplace Matching

  • Encourage employers to match employee contributions. This doubles impact!

Quick Pitch for Work, School, Church:

• Work: "Would you consider a workplace Giving Tuesday challenge? This would give our company a chance to give back locally."

• School: "Let's see if we can get both teachers and students involved to raise funds for an important cause!"

• Church: "Could we offer a tithe the Sunday prior to Giving Tuesday, and come together as a faith community to support The Haven."
